The Airport in Kalibo is another option to travel to Boracay. While the smaller (but nearer to Boracay) Caticlan Airport can accomodate only smaller turboprob planes from Manila or Cebu, Kalibo Airport has been upgraded to an international airport and can accomodate bigger aircraft such as Boeing 737 or airbus 320.
By December 2015 there are daily international flights from China, Taiwan, Korea and Singapore directly to Kalibo. Some of this airlines that fly to Kalibo are budget airlines such as Tiger Air from Singapore. So it's possible now to make a cheap extended weekend trip to Boracay Island.
If your plane lands in Kalibo however, there is another 1.5 hours bus transfer to Caticlan, where the boats depart for Boracay. This bus transfers you may either book together with your airline ticket or at one of the boothes in front of the terminal. There are metered taxis, vans or buses available for the transfer.
You can book your transfer at one of the boothes in front of the airport terminal in Kalibo
A simple one way bus transfer from Kalibo to Caticlan will cost about 200 Peso but you may also book package tours which include the bus transfer, the boat to Boracay, terminal fee, environmental ticket and the transfer from the pier to your hotel on Boracay. This package may cost between 450 and 650 Peso.
If your flight to Kalibo is with Cebu Pacific, you can book the transfer package together with your ticket for 450 Peso (one way)
